Mackenzie Melemed

Third Prize

Mackenzie Melemed has performed over 800 concerts since the age of three. As a child, he played for President George W. Bush in Boston, and subsequently was invited to perform five times at The White House. In 2006, he gave his Carnegie Hall debut. Most recently, Mr. Melemed has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, including dates with the Helsinki Philharmonic and Tampere Filharmonia.

He recorded South Korean composer Jeajoon Ryu's Piano Concerto with Sinfonia Varsovia on the Warner label, and also gave its Finnish premiere with the Kuopio City Orchestra and performed it on tour with the KBS Symphony Orchestra in Korea and Poland. In 2018, his recording of Avner Dorman's Three Études was released on the Steinway & Sons CD, Stecher and Horowitz Commissions.

Mr. Melemed expects to receive his Artist Diploma from Juilliard in 2020. He is passionate about traveling and foreign languages, speaks fluent French and Finnish, and his favorite cuisine is Chinese.
