A native of Israel, Dr. Kaplinsky earned her BS, MM, and DMA degrees from Juilliard as a student of Irwin Freundlich, and continued her studies with Dorothy Taubman. A prizewinner at the J.S. Bach International Competition in Washington, DC, she has performed with orchestras, in recital, and in chamber music series in numerous cities in the United States and Israel. She is noted for her insight into piano technique, and remains in demand for lectures and workshops around the world. She has appeared in various televised documentaries, and has given master classes in the United States, Israel, Europe, and Asia. She is also a frequent visitor to festivals, including Orford in Canada, PianoTexas in Fort Worth, Philomusica at Oxford University, and the Mozarteum in Salzburg, among others.
 
Dr. Kaplinsky is a frequent adjudicator at such international music competitions as the Cliburn, Rubinstein, Cleveland, Dublin, Tchaikovsky, and Montreal. She has twice received the Presidential Scholars Teacher Recognition Award, and her students have won international competitions and serve on the faculties of many music institutions.
